We know how much our students love to earn awards and how much we all love to see the students practicing, so we are excited to launch a new series of Practice Challenge wristbands!
Students will still be able to earn their regular Musical Ladder wristbands, such as Apprentice, Songbird, etc. – Think of these levels as Extra Credit! Certain wristbands can only be earned during certain times of the year, but there will be multiple opportunities to earn the wristbands.
As an added incentive, anyone who earns all SIX of the 2021 Practice Challenge wristbands will be eligible to receive the 2021 Practice Trophy at the end of the year!
These are the Wristband Challenges with their time frames:
Wristband 1
Practice Points: 1.0
Achieve 24 practice points between the beginning of January 2021 and the end of June 2021.
Wristband 2
Performance Challenge: 1.0
Perform for a friend, a family member, or a pet – can be earned in April and May 2021.
Wristband 3
Creative Challenge: 1.0
Make an arrangement of your favourite song, remix, or compose a song – can be earned in July and August 2021.
Wristband 4
Season / Holiday Challenge
Learn a season-themed, holiday, or a movie-themed song, make a video, and submit it with the office – can be earned in October and November 2021.
Wristband 5
Practice Points 2.0
Just like Practice Points 1.0, but you have to earn 24 points between the beginning of July 2021 and the end of December 2021.
Wristband 6
Creative Challenge 2.0
Make an arrangement of your favourite song, remix, or compose a song – can be earned in September and October 2021.
To earn Practice Points, record the time and day of your practice in a practice log and have your parents or guardian sign it. Each practice equals 1 point. We understand that the practice time varies from student to student based on individual ability and level, but we recommend a minimum of 15 minutes of practicing per session.
Practice logs are available to download for each student for parents to sign. If you’d like to catch up with practice points, practice more than once during the week and record your practices in the practice log.
To earn the Creative, Performance, or Seasonal/Holiday challenge wristbands, record your videos and email them to info@mississaugafineartsacademy.com. We recommend using a file transfer website such as WeTransfer to send the files to us (similar to how videos have been sent for our Summer and Winter recitals).
