One World, One Stage – Summer Recital 2026

2026 Summer Recital (1)

The Summer Recital is just around the corner, and we’re excited to celebrate another incredible season of music with our students and families! This year, with over 700 students, our recitals will take place at the Living Arts Centre over two weekends: June 13, 14 and 20, 21.

Each recital block will be approximately one hour long and organized by teacher groups. For families with siblings or students taking multiple instruments, we’ll make every effort to place everyone in the same recital block whenever possible, though this may occasionally mean performing with a different teacher group than usual.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q – How much do recital tickets cost?

A – Tickets are free! Seating is limited to approximately 100 seats per block and is available on a first-come, first-served basis. Please keep this in mind when inviting guests so everyone has an opportunity to enjoy the performances.

Q – What should performers wear?

A – Dress comfortably, but feel free to dress up for the occasion! Many families take photos during recital weekends, so it’s a wonderful opportunity to look your best while feeling comfortable on stage.

Q – When should we arrive?

A – We recommend arriving 15 minutes before your scheduled recital block. Guests will be seated once the previous group has exited the theatre. Seating is first-come, first-served.

Q – Where can we park?

A – Underground parking is available at the Living Arts Centre on weekends. The entrance to the underground parking garage is located at the back of the building off Living Arts Drive. Additional free parking is also available across from the Living Arts Centre at the Square One plaza.

Q – Can we take pictures during the recital?

A – Absolutely! Photography is encouraged, but please avoid using flash during performances. Don’t forget to share your recital memories on social media using #MississaugaFineArtsAcademy or #MFAARECITAL. Our red carpet photo area will also be available outside the theatre for family pictures and celebrations!

Q – How does the stage setup work?

A – The Rogers Theatre is a traditional theatre-style venue with the stage at the front and seating on a gradual incline. Performers will sit in the front rows, while guests may sit behind them.

There is no backstage area, allowing parents to comfortably watch their children throughout the recital.

Now is the perfect time to connect with your teacher regarding recital preparations! If you require an accompanist, have scheduling questions, or need assistance, please stop by the front desk. We’ll be happy to help.

We can’t wait to see our students take the stage, share their hard work, and bring the music to life this summer! 🎶

Spotlight on Success: Jacob B.

We are proud to recognize Jacob B. as one of our Spotlight Students at Mississauga Fine Arts Academy!

Jacob recently earned 2nd Place at the prestigious Peel Music Festival — a wonderful achievement that reflects his hard work, dedication, and musical growth. Jacob has been taking lessons at Mississauga Fine Arts Academy since August 2023 under the guidance of Ms. Lesya, and we are thrilled to see his progress being recognized through performance opportunities like this.

Join Our Growing Ensemble Programs at MFAA – Chamber Strings & Spotlight Singers

Group programs

At Mississauga Fine Arts Academy, we believe music is even more meaningful when students have the opportunity to learn, collaborate, and perform together. This summer, we are excited to continue growing our ensemble programs and invite students to join either our established Chamber Strings Group or our newly launched Spotlight Singers program.

🎻 MFAA Chamber Strings

Our Chamber Strings program has been a core part of MFAA for several years and continues to grow in both quality and reputation. Designed for violin, viola, and cello students with prior playing experience, the program gives students the opportunity to move beyond solo lessons and experience the excitement of ensemble performance.

Students work on:

• Ensemble skills and musical listening

• Confidence performing with others

• Stronger rhythm, timing, and musical expression

• A deeper understanding of orchestral repertoire

Students in the Chamber Strings Group also enjoy exciting performance opportunities throughout the year, including:

• Semi-annual recitals at the Living Arts Centre

• MFAA Faculty Concert performances alongside our teachers

• Community events and festivals such as the Golden Kids Festival

Many of our alumni have gone on to join respected ensembles, including the Mississauga Symphony Orchestra and other orchestral groups across the GTA.

🎤 MFAA Spotlight Singers

Launched this May, Spotlight Singers is our newest ensemble program for students who love singing and would like to experience performing as part of a group. While private lessons focus on individual development, Spotlight Singers gives students the opportunity to sing together, explore vocal harmony, and build confidence in a supportive and encouraging environment.

The program incorporates elements of:

• Vocal harmony

• Ensemble listening and blending

• Stage presence and expression

• Musical theatre-style performance

No previous ensemble experience is required, and students do not need to be current vocal students to join. The program is open to any student interested in group singing and performance.

We are also excited to have Ms. Emily leading Spotlight Singers. With her background in vocal ensembles and musical theatre, she brings both performance experience and a passion for creating a positive and uplifting environment for students.

✨ Why Join an Ensemble Program?

Both Chamber Strings and Spotlight Singers offer students the opportunity to:

• Build confidence and teamwork skills

• Make friends with students who share similar interests

• Stay motivated and engaged through music

• Gain valuable performance experience

• Experience the joy of making music together

What is the Musical Ladder System?

At Mississauga Fine Arts Academy, we believe every student benefits from setting and achieving personalized goals. That’s why we use the Musical Ladder System—a unique, motivational program that celebrates students’ progress in music, just like karate belts or swimming levels.

With the Musical Ladder System®, each student receives a customized learning plan and is tested on their progress every 3 months for the first 18 months, every 6 months until their fifth year, and once a year after that. There are 18 levels in all, from Apprentice to Artist. Every level earns a certificate and a colourful wristband (students even get to choose between two designs), and major milestones, such as reaching Rock Star after one year, also earn a trophy.

This approach keeps students motivated and inspired, making learning music an exciting journey.
