We had a fantastic time at our annual Winter Recital this year and are still grinning ear to ear over how well people performed. With over 300 performers spanning two days, this has been one of our busiest years yet! Every year we look forward to seeing the different instruments and styles of music, and are absolutely astounded by the progress of each and every one of our students. So give yourselves a pat on the back for your hard work and we can’t wait to see what’s to come in 2019!

Our Winter Recital was so much fun, and we loved to see all the wonderful pictures of our students enjoying themselves at the Living Arts Centre! Congratulations to Dia K for her win in our draw, and we hope to see lots more pictures of our students at the upcoming Summer Recital!
Dia did an amazing job on her violin performance during the recital and has been practicing very hard at the school for over a year now!
Great work Dia!

All month we’ve been asking our students to show us their festive enthusiasm with different outfits and jewelry, and you didn’t disappoint! Special congratulations goes to Rajveer, our winner of this latest contest!
Not only did Rajveer dress up for us, but his mom did as well!
Thank you for having such a positive spirit, everyone!
We’ve loved being able to talk to teachers about how proud of thier students they are. Each month we like to celebrate the succes of some of our students with our Student of the Month! This month we want to let you know all about Mason! Mason is 10 years old and is very dedicated and talented.
We asked Mason a few questions about himself and his time at the Academy and this is what he told us:
What instrument do you play? Piano and Recorder
How long have you been taking lessons? Four years with Ms.Vilija
What’s your favourite song to play? Mozart Sonata in C Major
What is your favourite food? Ice Cream
What is your favourite thing you’ve learned in class recently? My songs. Für Elise and Sonata Op. 27-2 “Moonlight” 1st movement
What is your favourite colour? White

We asked Vilija to tell us all about Mason and why she chose him for student of the month, and she was so proud of him. She says that Mason plays four grades higher than his current level and he always comes to class prepared and ready to take on any challenge.
Congratulations once again Mason, and we wish you all the best with your future RCM exams!

What is the Musical Ladder System?
At Mississauga Fine Arts Academy, we believe every student benefits from setting and achieving personalized goals. That’s why we use the Musical Ladder System—a unique, motivational program that celebrates students’ progress in music, just like karate belts or swimming levels.
With the Musical Ladder System®, each student receives a customized learning plan and is tested on their progress every 3 months for the first 18 months, every 6 months until their fifth year, and once a year after that. There are 18 levels in all, from Apprentice to Artist. Every level earns a certificate and a colourful wristband (students even get to choose between two designs), and major milestones, such as reaching Rock Star after one year, also earn a trophy.
This approach keeps students motivated and inspired, making learning music an exciting journey.
