[MFAA Admin]: Mississauga Fine Arts Academy, how can I help you?

[Parent]: Hi, my name is [Parent] and I’m calling to check program availability. I’m interested in enrolling my daughter for piano lessons. She is 10 years old.

[MFAA Admin]: Of course! Yes, I can definitely help with that. Now, has your daughter taken any piano lessons before, or would this be her first time?

[Parent]: No, first time.

[MFAA Admin]: Perfect. And how did you hear about us, [Parent]?

[Parent]: One of our friends told us.

[MFAA Admin]: Oh, amazing! We do have a referral program. You don’t have to do it right now, but when you sign up, if you let us know the name of the friend or parent who told you about us, we can add you to our referral contest. First, I’ll tell you a bit of information about us. We offer private music lessons here, one-on-one, once per week at the same day and time every week with one of our qualified teachers. For most beginners, I recommend 30-minute lessons to start, but we do have 45-minute and 1-hour options as well. For 30 minutes, lessons are $39.50 per class, so monthly it’s $158. And as you are a referral from someone, your $25 registration fee would be waived.

[Parent]: Okay. What about the other options like 45 minutes and 1 hour if we choose those? How much is the price difference?

[MFAA Admin]: For 45 minutes, it is $237 a month, and for 1 hour, it is $316 per month.

[Parent]: Okay. And for the lessons, can we choose a time or are there specific time slots for private lessons?

[MFAA Admin]: We are open 7 days a week. If you let us know your availability, we can let you know what times we have available that would work for you.

[Parent]: Okay. Is it possible, because right now they are on vacation, if we start now at a different time and when school opens can we move it? Is that also possible?

[MFAA Admin]: It is a possibility to change times moving forward. We just can’t guarantee a certain time until two weeks out. So if you started this week and wanted to change it in September, we could look at scheduling around mid-August.

[Parent]: Are you available on Fridays?

[MFAA Admin]: Yes. Was it for the 30-minute lesson, or were you looking for something longer?

[Parent]: I think we can start with 30 minutes and we can always switch that, right?

[MFAA Admin]: Yeah, absolutely!

[Parent]: For a beginner, let’s start with 30 minutes and see how she enjoys it, and go from there. If you can suggest something in the evening on Friday, that’s good because when school opens, we don’t have to move it a lot.

[MFAA Admin]: Exactly. So right now on Fridays, starting next week, I have time at either 5:30, 7:30, or 8:30. Would any of those work for you?

[Parent]: 5:30 is good.

[MFAA Admin]: 5:30 starting next week? Perfect! If you’d like that time, I can place it on hold for you for 24 hours and email you the forms to fill out. As long as you fill those up by tomorrow evening, we can have everything ready to start next Friday.

[Parent]: Sure, let me just write down the time. So you can take my email and send all the details?

[MFAA Admin]: Yes, absolutely! Whenever you’re ready, I can take your email address down.

[Parent]: Yes, I’m ready.

[MFAA Admin]: So I will go ahead and send you that shortly. You’ll get two emails. The first one will go over the registration and the payment and everything you need to know. The second one will be the forms themselves. So, like I said, just fill those out and hit submit by tomorrow evening and we’ll have everything ready to go for next Friday at that 5:30 time. And then if on the top it’ll ask how did you hear about us, just write the name of the friend that told you about us or the parent, and then we’ll be sure to add you both into our referral contest draw, okay?

[Parent]: Okay, sounds good. And it’s a private class, right? One-on-one?

[MFAA Admin]: Yes, private.

[Parent]: Okay. And yeah, before I have any questions I’ll give you a call back, but I’ll wait for your email. So next Friday at 5:30. Thank you so much.

[MFAA Admin]: No problem. If you don’t get the email in the next 10 minutes, check your spam folder, okay?

[Parent]: Sure, sure. Thank you.

[MFAA Admin]: Okay, thank you. Have a good day!

[Parent]: You as well. Bye.

What is the Musical Ladder System?

At Mississauga Fine Arts Academy, we believe every student benefits from setting and achieving personalized goals. That’s why we use the Musical Ladder System—a unique, motivational program that celebrates students’ progress in music, just like karate belts or swimming levels.

With the Musical Ladder System®, each student receives a customized learning plan and is tested on their progress every 3 months for the first 18 months, every 6 months until their fifth year, and once a year after that. There are 18 levels in all, from Apprentice to Artist. Every level earns a certificate and a colourful wristband (students even get to choose between two designs), and major milestones, such as reaching Rock Star after one year, also earn a trophy.

This approach keeps students motivated and inspired, making learning music an exciting journey.
