One World, One Stage – Summer Recital 2026 Highlights!

A Standing Ovation to Our Amazing Students!

Our June Recitals have come to an end, and what an incredible few weekends they were! We couldn’t be prouder of every student who stepped onto the stage. From students taking the stage for the very first time to those returning with growing confidence, each performance showcased months of hard work, dedication, and a genuine love for music. It was wonderful to see everyone’s progress and to celebrate each student’s musical journey.

This year’s recital theme, “One World, One Stage,” reminded us that music has a unique way of bringing people together. Seeing our students perform with confidence and support one another made all of the preparation worthwhile.

A huge thank you goes to our amazing teachers for all the time, patience, and encouragement they invest in their students. Your dedication is what helps make moments like these possible.

We would also like to recognize our incredible MFAA administrative team. While they may not have been on stage, they spent many hours behind the scenes planning, organizing, preparing programs, coordinating schedules, helping families, and making sure every detail was taken care of. Thank you for all of your hard work before, during, and after the recitals.

A special thank you also goes to all of our volunteers who generously gave their time to help throughout the recital weekends. From greeting families and assisting backstage to helping everything run smoothly, your support made a real difference. We truly appreciate it.

And of course, thank you to all of our parents, families, and friends. Your support, encouragement, and applause mean so much to our students and help make these performances such a positive and memorable experience.

Relive the Memories!

If you’d like to watch the performances again or share them with family and friends who couldn’t attend, all of our recital videos are now available on our YouTube channel.

Thank you once again to everyone who helped make our Summer Recitals such a wonderful celebration of music. We hope you enjoy your summer, and we look forward to seeing everyone back at the academy soon!

Please Note:

To respect the privacy choices of our families, students who did not have a signed media waiver on file were not included in the recital videos. If you would like your child to be included in future recital videos and promotional materials, please contact our office and ask for a media waiver to be signed before the next recital.

Celebrating Canada's Diversity at MFAA

United Nations Poster in Light Blue and Dark Blue Flat Illustration Style (1)

From June 23–29, our academy celebrated Canada Culture Week by inviting students to wear red and white or traditional cultural attire to their lessons in honour of Canada Day.

It was wonderful to see so many students proudly representing their heritage while celebrating the diversity that makes Canada such a special place to call home. Our hallways were filled with bright colours, smiles, and a true sense of community.

At Mississauga Fine Arts Academy, we are proud to welcome students from many different cultures and backgrounds. Music has a unique way of bringing people together, and this special week was a wonderful reminder that, while we may come from different places, we are united through our love of music.

Thank you to everyone who participated and helped make this celebration so memorable. Happy Canada Day from all of us at MFAA!

Join Our Growing Ensemble Programs at MFAA – Chamber Strings & Spotlight Singers

At Mississauga Fine Arts Academy, we believe music is even more meaningful when students have the opportunity to learn, collaborate, and perform together. This summer, we are excited to continue growing our ensemble programs and invite students to join either our established Chamber Strings Group or our newly launched Spotlight Singers program.

MFAA Chamber Strings

Our Chamber Strings program has been a core part of MFAA for several years and continues to grow in both quality and reputation. Designed for violin, viola, and cello students with prior playing experience, the program gives students the opportunity to move beyond solo lessons and experience the excitement of ensemble performance.

Students work on:

• Ensemble skills and musical listening

• Confidence performing with others

• Stronger rhythm, timing, and musical expression

• A deeper understanding of orchestral repertoire

Students in the Chamber Strings Group also enjoy exciting performance opportunities throughout the year, including:

• Semi-annual recitals at the Living Arts Centre

• MFAA Faculty Concert performances alongside our teachers

• Community events and festivals such as the Golden Kids Festival

Many of our alumni have gone on to join respected ensembles, including the Mississauga Symphony Orchestra and other orchestral groups across the GTA.

MFAA Spotlight Singers

Launched this May, Spotlight Singers is our newest ensemble program for students who love singing and would like to experience performing as part of a group. While private lessons focus on individual development, Spotlight Singers gives students the opportunity to sing together, explore vocal harmony, and build confidence in a supportive and encouraging environment.

The program incorporates elements of:

• Vocal harmony

• Ensemble listening and blending

• Stage presence and expression

• Musical theatre-style performance

No previous ensemble experience is required, and students do not need to be current vocal students to join. The program is open to any student interested in group singing and performance.

We are also excited to have Ms. Emily leading Spotlight Singers. With her background in vocal ensembles and musical theatre, she brings both performance experience and a passion for creating a positive and uplifting environment for students.

Why Join an Ensemble Program?

Both Chamber Strings and Spotlight Singers offer students the opportunity to:

• Build confidence and teamwork skills

• Make friends with students who share similar interests

• Stay motivated and engaged through music

• Gain valuable performance experience

• Experience the joy of making music together

Celebrating Our Students’ RCM Exam Success!

As we begin the new year, we are excited to celebrate the first RCM exam session and the wonderful achievements of our students at Mississauga Fine Arts Academy. Their results are a fantastic way to start the year and reflect the dedication and hard work they have put into their musical studies.

The Royal Conservatory of Music program is a highly respected and comprehensive curriculum that helps students develop strong technical skills, musical expression, and a deeper understanding of their instrument. Preparing for these exams requires focus, perseverance, and consistent guidance, and our students truly rose to the challenge. We are incredibly proud of their commitment and the progress they continue to make on their musical journey.

We are excited to recognize the following outstanding results from this recent exam session:

What is the Musical Ladder System?

At Mississauga Fine Arts Academy, we believe every student benefits from setting and achieving personalized goals. That’s why we use the Musical Ladder System—a unique, motivational program that celebrates students’ progress in music, just like karate belts or swimming levels.

With the Musical Ladder System®, each student receives a customized learning plan and is tested on their progress every 3 months for the first 18 months, every 6 months until their fifth year, and once a year after that. There are 18 levels in all, from Apprentice to Artist. Every level earns a certificate and a colourful wristband (students even get to choose between two designs), and major milestones, such as reaching Rock Star after one year, also earn a trophy.

This approach keeps students motivated and inspired, making learning music an exciting journey.
